Development-Production-Consulting-Solution

The drive concepts and products of Elliptec are based on piezo-technology. Elliptec cultivates an open corporate culture to encourage creative thought and to create a collegial climate.

History
The company is a Siemens AG spin-off. At the location Berkeley, California (USA), a motor was developed based on piezoelectric ceramics that proved to be promising for a wide field of applications. The researcher team separated from Siemens in 2001 and formed an independent company in order to more quickly realize the motor’s full potential. Elliptec Resonant Actuator AG, or Elliptec for short, was thus founded in 2001.

Siemens AG transferred all rights to the technology to Elliptec and remains a minority investor.

In 2004, Elliptec invested heavily in the expansion of its manufacturing capacity. A new production facility was commissioned early 2005, which increased the available floor space twenty fold. Concurrently, Elliptec´s engineering team had further improved and optimized the manufacturing process. Complete automation was scheduled for mid-2005.
